"DIVINE
READING" An ancient approach to the Bible, practiced by Jews and adapted by Saint Benedict in the sixth century, "divine reading" is a way of unhurried, reflective reading of Scripture as a way to listen to God, as a way into God's active presence in life. In Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith, Kathleen Norris describes the Benedictine practice as "meditation on the scripture in which one reads not for knowledge or information but to enhance one's life of faith . . ., not a method but rather a type of free-form, serious play." Responding to signs of hunger for personal encounter with God by Christians and other seekers, this course will provide both guidance in and practice of lectio divine. Any translation of the Bible may be used, and a journal or notebook would be helpful. Led by Judy
