Saturday of the 5th Week of Lent

Ezekiel 37:21-28

John 11:45-57

Scripture
"My dwelling shall be with them; I will be their God, and they shall be my people."
Many "have seen what Jesus did, and put their faith in Him."
Reflection
So instead of looking beyond the political expediency of the times and placing their trust in God, they designed "a plan… to kill Jesus" and thus control by worldly means a worldly concern. In their fortress religiosity the Sanhedrin failed to see the Spirit of God working in their midst to fulfill the promise given to them.

Lent provides a good time to reflect on whether we have surrendered to the concerns of the world or whether we will trust in God's promises and act as Proverbs 3:5 advises:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."
