Exodus 12:1-8; 11-14
1Cor 11:23-26
John 13:1-15

Scripture
"Do you realize what I have done for you? If I your teacher have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. I have given you a model to follow."
Reflection
As the first reading from Exodus shows Moses and Aaron teaching the people the full meaning of Passover, so in John, Jesus becomes the teacher of true love. He prepares his disciples for the true meaning of love by leaving his presence in the Eucharist and showing his followers they must forgive each other by washing each other's feet. To celebrate the Eucharist, Jesus expects us to forgive each other fully by getting on our knees before each other and asking for forgiveness before we can really celebrate the Eucharist.
Mantra
