Reflection
Today's Scriptures speak to us about the empty tomb---the place where the crucified Christ was laid to rest. It is described in great detail as being "tidy", neat, almost unused.
Even though the disciples didn't yet understand the resurrection, they believed and had faith. Do we believe and have faith? We have spent these days of Lent focusing on turning from evil and doing good, according to the admonition to us on Ash Wednesday. Are our tombs empty? Neat and tidy? Or have we allowed the deadness of past resentments, the decay of anger and foul smell of unforgiveness, fill our hearts to the point that they cannot be emptied. We long to arrive at Easter and find an empty tomb, a sign of resurrection, a new life and new beginnings. Hopefully the work of Lent has been fruitful and we do arrive early in the morning to find the stone rolled back and our tombs empty ---free from signs of death and filled with faith and hope.
Mantra
