Isaiah 1:10; 16-20

Matthew 23:1-12

Scripture
"Do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach."
Reflection
Today's readings are as current as the morning news. The justice and compassion promised in yesterday's speeches, turn overnight to favoritism and disregard. Whole populations are daily oppressed by our collective failure to learn to cease to do evil. And yet, there is justice and compassion. Orphans are fed and treasured. Widows are comforted. We struggle still to do good, to seek justice, to rescue the oppressed, to feed the hungry. We struggle to be true to our faith, to our times.
Mantra
Help us, Lord, to live your truth.
