"I
will look to the Lord." |
Reflection |
These
days of Lent are often spent "looking" inward and it's no
accident that the gospel reading today speaks of the man born blind.
While it's useful and necessary to occasionally look inward, we are
sometimes blind to what is evident right in front of us.
We lose sight of our connectedness to one another; we miss the signs
of God's presence in the details of everyday life ---our daily work,
chores around the house, our children, people we run into in the market,
our friends and constant companions. Sometimes God is so close we
cannot see. In the face of adversity, Micah declares "I will
put my trust in God. God will hear me." Sometimes we forget "God"
in the everyday-ness of living. Today's gospel story is a reminder
that through our baptism our blindness is no longer. We can see and
we do believe!
