Reflection for January 8, 2014

There is nothing that can replace
the absence of someone dear to us…
to the extent the emptiness truly remains unfilled
one remains connected
to the other person through it.

God in no way fills the emptiness,
but much more
leaves it precisely unfilled…
The more Beautiful and Full the Remembrances,
the more difficult the separation.
One bears what was lovely in the past
not as a thorn

but as a precious gift deep within,
a hidden treasure…

Dietrich BonHoeffer

Our meditation this morning was an honoring of
Hildegard Wolf Huntsman, our beloved friend

There is something that binds us together
in this world and the one to come: Love.
